Welcome to the island of Mallorca, Spain!

We chose Mallorca with a careful mindfulness on several key factors - from accessibility, to safety, to guest comfort and the novelty of exploring a breathtaking corner of the world new to all of us. In short, the island is idyllic with so much to explore and experience in a safe destination, famous for it's unique culture and cuisine, friendly faces, charming history, and breathtaking coastal, rural, and city landscapes alike. From the crystal blue waters, roaming groves of olive yards and charming towns, we promise that this shared experience won't be one to forget.

WHAT TO DO:

  • There are beautiful beaches (all which are protected to guarantee public access) all over the island. For wild coastlines, head northeast. For white sand, head southwest. Be sure to check out the local beach clubs and seafood scene in fishing villages as well! Link: Eight of the Most Beautiful Beaches in Mallorca

  • Wine and island life? Consider me sold. The island has been esteemed by royalty and wine-o’s since the Roman Empire, and for good reason. Be sure to look out for Mori, a local white blend similar to Sauvignon Blanc and Champagne, or a local Syrah from the mountain region up north. Other popular sports on the island include road cycling, water sports, and adventure sports such as diving, jet skiing, wakeboarding, and more.

  • Streetmarkets are quintessentially, can’t-miss Mallorca. Markets like these pop up all over the island on different day of the week, from the Olivar Food Market (similar to a farmer’s and art market) to the Sunday Flea Market of antiques and vintage goods.

For more traditional shopping, check out:

    • Paseo del Borne, known as ‘The Golden Mile’ on Mallorca offers designer shopping and luxury boutiques.

    • Via Verí is a charming boulevard of independent shops, artisan boutiques, and local faires.

MALLORCA FAQS:

  • Most of our guests plan to rent a car (for about $30 per day) for ease and independence to explore all that the island has to offer! Pro Tip: Double check whether your rental is standard or automatic, especially if you plan to drive Northeast to check out the region’s mountains.

  • Absolutely. This was a top priority for us in selecting a destination. The Island of Mallorca is plenty safe for families, as well as for those chasing the nightlife party, and everyone in between. That said - just like any other tourist destination - we encourage you to keep your valuables safe from pickpockets and non-violent crimes of opportunity.

  • This was another important factor for us. We want (more than anything) for you to enjoy this venture, not break the bank. That said- your flight will be the largest expense of your trip. As to accommodation, food, and activities once you arrive in paradise - this can absolutely be done on less than $100 per day, per person - and far less should you choose a multi-bedroom villa to split with others. Of course, there are luxury options for dining and resort life- but we encourage you to dig a little, get off Trip Advisor, and just explore - for the better deals on it all.

  • Good news here! It’s a safe bet that +90% of the locals you interact with will speak English. That said- we encourage you to brush up on a few basic Spanish phrases (especially if you intend to bargain at the street markets) as a nod of respect to the locals. You may be surprised at how an occasional “gracias” can get you a long way ahead!
